Ocean Liner History and Stories from the Sea, Past and Present. With an In Depth focus on Holland America Line

01 July 2017 in between ships.

Due to the time difference I currently post my blog the day after the date. That results today in a conflict of interests as I am leaving the Noordam and  transferring to the Zaandam, via a short visit to our NEW head office in Seattle.

So I will try to catch up tomorrow as I am flying today.

Thus today there will be no blog but hopefully there will be one tomorrow with some photos of our new head quarters.

Best regards

Capt. Albert

  1. Welcome back to Seattle! 🙂
I have been curious about the new HQ and if there is space to give the old anchor a new home too. I drive by the old HQ everyday and noticed that the plaque for the anchor seems to have ‘walked’ to a new place….

Very impressive building, Captain. “Our Headquarters” also recently moved to Warwick (NY) and opened to the public in April of this year …

  3. Forgot to mention in my previous comment that if you are bored while in Seattle, the locks in Ballard are celebrating 100 years. Of course, they are not quite ‘world-famous’ now and have never locked a ‘Dam ship through, but it can be entertaining to see who is clueless and who pays attention to the linespeople as they direct traffic and fit the boats as compactly as possible.

Captain Albert, we really enjoyed your presentation of HAL’s history onboard the Noordam last week. Very good insights and thanks for sharing your perspective.

By chance do you know the itinerary for Statendam on 8th June 2003? My mom was on that cruise and I think it was an itinerary similar to what we did on 25th June 2017 (Seward-Vancouver). Thanks! Kevin
