After a very hectic leave I finally have some time to live up to my promise made in September to upload more ships history’s. As our latest ship, due for commission in the mid of 2010, will the Nieuw Amsterdam (IV) I thought it might be nice to start with the histories of the previous three Nieuw Amsterdams.
They can be found by scrolling down on the right hand side of my blog page under the Nieuw Amsterdam heading. Enjoy

Captain, thank you for taking the time out of your leave to write a history of the Nieuw Amsterdams. Seeing the new post felt like an early Christmas present. Have a very Merry Christmas!

Welcome back, Captain! It seems that many others have had a hectic time during the last few months judging by the silence in your blog 🙂 I’m actually happy to read that your leave was a ‘very’ hectic one and not a ‘too’ hectic one, suggesting that you could still deal with it. I shall be patient and read through the histories of the three older Nieuw Amsterdams (one to go) before you start on the history of the Rotterdam 1958. I might have an archival picture for you (kidding …) Please let us in on you (and complete complement of staff?) being on board a ship in drydock!!? The “hecticity” is only beginning in my corner of the world; may you have pity on us and on some of your colleagues that will be involved.
